Rockhold trains at the world renowned American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) under Dave Camarillo, Javier Mendez, and “Crazy” Bob Cook. Rockhold has good submission defense, uses the body triangle effectively, is a good counter puncher, works for the finish and has solid takedown defense from training with superior wrestlers.

Rockhold made his STRIKEFORCE debut in February of 2008 where, coming off the only loss of his pro career, he stopped Josh Neal with strikes. Rockhold reeled off five consecutive wins (Theotikos, Meredith, Devela, Taylor, and Bradley), finishing all of his opponents. Rockhold is also a California State High School Wrestling qualifier and won U.S. Open World Championship blue belt division in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
